Vic Sapa was a great choice to travel overnight to Sapa. I had realistic expectations after reading the many mixed reviews across the train companies. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and presentation including clean sheets, water, fruit and Oreo snacks and a lockable door.
I was able to see all the train companies while boarding and while they are all very similar I could see Vic Sapa’s had a higher standard with a notable difference of a slight thicker mattress (albeit quite firm – standard for Vietnam). I had no concerns with the cleanliness of the bathrooms – clean both on arrival and the end of the journey.
I booked direct using the email on the website for peace of mind that my booking was legitimate. Ms Nguyen was very efficient providing all the specific details and gave a free upgrade when cabins were heavily booked. It was lovely to receive a follow up email to see how we found our journey.
If you are realistic that you are doing an overnight trip on a train, not staying in a 5 star hotel, Vic Sapa is an excellent choice. For me, it’s about embracing the experiences.
